Microdisc electrodes are commonly combined with amperometry to study exocytosis at single cells. This has proven a valuable technique in investigating intercellular communication, and we aim to take it to the next level. We are developing the means to quantify and identify chemical messengers inside a cell by constructing nanoscale electrodes that can be inserted into the cell.
